Amazon’s Choice is a special badge given to products that meet certain standards set by the company, showing shoppers that these items are of high quality and good value.

Annual Vendor Negotiation (AVN)

It’s a yearly event where Amazon meets with its vendor partners to discuss and settle on trade terms for the upcoming year. These talks include topics such as pricing, marketing investments, promotions, payment terms, growth projections, and more.

Automatic Targeting

Automatic targeting is an Amazon tool that utilizes an algorithm to help sellers promote their sponsored product pages by matching customer search queries with relevant products.

Average Selling Price (ASP)

Calculated as ordered revenue divided by ordered units.

Bill of Lading (BOL)

A bill of lading is a legal document provided by the carrier to the shipper that specifies the type, quantity, and destination of the goods in transit and acts as a receipt confirming delivery at the final destination.

Brand Analytics (BA)

A tool available to brands enrolled in the Amazon Brand Registry which helps businesses understand how customers behave and how the brand is performing by making use of the following dashboards: Search Catalog Performance, Search Query Performance, Top Search Terms, Repeat Purchase Behavior, Demographics, Customer Loyalty Analytics and Market Basket Analysis.

Category Type Item (CTI)

Chargeback

A chargeback is when a customer asks their bank or credit card company to cancel a payment they made for something bought on Amazon.

A variation of a product within a parent listing which can differ by attributes such as size, color, material, style, etc.

Chime

A communication service to hold online meetings.

Click Through Rate (CTR)

The ratio of the number of times shoppers click on your ad to the number of times the ad is displayed.

A certificate used to highlight products that are environmentally sustainable and help preserve nature.

Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR)

Concessions

A process where Amazon provides partial or full refunds of an order’s costs, such as the purchase price or shipping fees, or grants other benefits to approved customers in relation to purchased items.

Confirmation Rate (CR)

Calculates the percentage of order volume accepted by a vendor from a purchase order.
Confirmation rate = Quantity of orders confirmed / quantity of orders submitted

Contribution Margin (CM)

A metric used to evaluate the profitability of a product by subtracting the variable costs associated with it from the revenue generated by its sales.
Contribution margin = Revenue – Variable Costs

Cooperative marketing (Amazon Co-op or Contra CoGS)

A program featuring various agreements designed to help vendors and suppliers promote their products and boost brand awareness by driving more traffic to their product listings.

Cost Price Increase (CPI)

An increase in the price of a product, usually caused by higher internal costs related to commodities, labor, and logistics.

Cost per Click (CPC)

A metric that determines the expense advertisers incur for each click on their PPC ads.
CPC = Total cost clicks / Total number of clicks

Costs of Goods Sold (COGS)

The total of direct costs, such as materials and labor, needed to produce goods sold by a company.

Coupon

Amazon coupons are single-use discounts that, when applied to your sponsored products, display a green badge indicating savings to potential customers.

Critical Pull Time (CPT)

The period when an order risks missing the shipping deadline for customer delivery.

Delivery Service Partner (DSP)

A program, launched in 2018, designed to connect with aspiring entrepreneurs by providing them the opportunity to build and grow their own delivery businesses in partnership with Amazon.

Demand Side Platform (DSP)

A platform that automates digital ad purchases, enabling real-time audience targeting and providing analytics for optimizing campaigns.

Detail Page (DP)

A dedicated page created for each item, providing essential details like product name, brand, ASIN, price, images, specifications,etc., and customer reviews for buyers to explore.

Detail Page Views (DPV)

A metric that quantifies the number of clicks or impressions on a product detail page, occurring when a shopper visits the page after clicking on a targeted advertisement.

A retail dropshipping program where vendors or sellers ship products directly to customers on Amazon’s behalf.

Direct Import (DI)

A program that simplifies importing by allowing businesses to work directly with international suppliers, cutting out intermediaries to reduce costs and enhance efficiency.

Dropshipping

A business model in which sellers list products on Amazon without keeping inventory. When a product is sold, the seller purchases it from a third-party supplier, who then ships it directly to the customer.

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)

A process of exchange of business documents between organizations.

End of Day (EOD)

A program for sellers with Brand Registry accounts that allows them to enhance product listings using images and rich text, replacing traditional descriptions with a more visually engaging format to differentiate their products from competitors.

Estimated Cargo Delivery Date (ECDD)

European Article Number (EAN)

A barcode standard featuring a 12 or 13-digit product identification code that identifies the product, manufacturer, and product attributes, and is typically printed on labels or packaging.

Ex Works (EXW)

A shipping term that indicates the buyer is responsible for covering all shipping costs and handling any logistics from the moment the product leaves the factory until it arrives at its final destination.

Expected Ship Date (EXSD)

Forward-Looking Order Workflow (FLOW)

A program where Amazon generates purchase orders with a designated shipping timeframe for an upcoming week, usually for top-selling items, to maintain a consistent inventory supply.

Free Cash Flow (FCF)

Represents the cash remaining after covering all operational expenses and working capital payments for a specific period.

Free Onboard (FOB)

Comes in two types: 1. FOB Origin: The importer is responsible for covering the transportation costs from the exporter’s warehouse to the final destination. 2. FOB Delivered: The exporter takes care of the shipping expenses to deliver the goods to the final destination.

Free To Carrier (FCA)

A trade term which means the seller delivers the export-cleared goods to the buyer’s chosen carrier at a specified location, with costs and risks transferring to the buyer at the moment of delivery.

Frustration-Free Packaging (FFP)

A user-friendly packaging method that lets customers easily access their products without extra wrapping, which reduces waste and enhances user experience.

Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA)

A service where sellers send their products to Amazon’s warehouses, and Amazon handles the storage, packaging, and logistics when these products are ordered.

A selling method where the seller is in full charge of storing, packing, and shipping their products straight to customers.

Full truckload shipping (FTL)

A shipping method which dedicates an entire trailer to a single shipment, ensuring your goods have exclusive space and usually make fewer stops compared to less-than-truckload shipping.

Fulfillment Network Stock Keeping Unit (FNSKU)

A unique identifier used by Amazon to distinguish a seller’s product, assigned during processing at an Amazon fulfillment center and printed on product-level labels.Every SKU labeled as “Fulfilled by Amazon” will have its own unique FNSKU barcode.

Freight Progressive Number (PRO)

Acts as a shipment tracking identifier used by carriers to reference and monitor freight movement.

Fulfilment Center (FC)

A facility (warehouse), where Amazon receives, stores, packs and ships customer orders.

A product category that requires Amazon’s permission to sell in, and is only available to approved sellers.

Glance Views (GV)

Refer to the number of times shoppers have viewed a product detail page, indicating the level of interest in that product.

Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN)

A network of interconnected data pools that allows trading partners to securely and efficiently share high-quality product data.

Global SKU

Global SKU utilizes a shared inventory pool across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, meaning if you have 100 units, it will show 100 units available in each marketplace.

Global Trade Item Number (GTIN)

A unique 14-digit number used worldwide to identify trade items, products, or services.

Gross Merchandise Value (GMV)

The total value of products sold by both Amazon and third-party sellers, including sales through programs like Seller Central and Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA).

Keyword-targeted, pay-per-click ads that increase brand awareness by displaying at the top of search results with a custom headline, brand logo, and up to three featured products.

Heavy Bulky (HB)

Hijacking

Occurs when an unauthorized seller lists a counterfeit version of a product on a platform, typically offering cheaper imitations of the brand’s genuine items.

Impressions

A metric that counts every time an ad is displayed on a page or device, no matter if it receives a click or not.

Index Suppressed

Occurs when a product listing violates Amazon’s quality or customer service guidelines and gets removed from search and browse results.

Intellectual Property (IP)

International Standard Book Number (ISBN)

A unique identifier for every published book, detailing its edition, publisher, and physical attributes such as trim size, page count, and binding type.

Item Data Quality Score (IDQ)

A metric that shows how well a product’s detail page communicates essential information to customers, with a completeness and quality rating ranging from 0 to 100.

Item Type Keywords (ITKs)

A means of organizing products by connecting their ASINs to particular categories on a platform.

A barcoding standard crucial for marking products and supporting distribution in Japan, known internationally as EAN and used in over 100 countries.

Joint Business Plan

Otherwise known asThe Amazon Vendor Negotiations Program (AVN), is Amazon’s annual negotiation process which involves meeting with vendor partners to discuss trade terms for the upcoming year.

Key Performance Indicator (KPI)

Measurable metrics used to assess the effectiveness of advertising campaigns and sales operations on Amazon, including: Revenue, Conversion Rate, Click-Through Rate (CTR), Impressions, Return on Advertising Spend (RoAS), and ACOS.

Keywords

Refer to the words and phrases that shoppers type into the Amazon search bar to discover products they are interested in purchasing on the platform.

It’s a process of identifying and analyzing search terms, words, and phrases that customers enter into the search bar, which sellers then use to optimize their product pages for better search rankings and improve a business’s online visibility.

Landed Cost

Also referred to as the landed price, is the sum of all costs accumulated from the point of production to when the product reaches the importer, including expenses for manufacturing, packaging, shipping, taxes, etc.

Less Than Container Load

A transportation approach that consolidates shipments from different shippers into one container, utilized when the cargo from one shipper is insufficient to fill a whole container

Less than Truck Load

A shipping method that combines cargo from multiple shippers into one trailer, routes it through hubs, and charges shippers only for the truck space their shipment occupies.

Licence Plate Receive (LPR)

An industry-wide standard for efficiently receiving inventory into a warehouse, essential for Amazon to reduce errors and minimize disputes over fees or chargebacks.

License Plate Number (LPN)

Measures how fast inventory is sold within a specific period, expressed as a percentage of units sold from the total inventory available, typically assessed monthly.

Service Provider Network (SPN)

A group of certified third-party service providers that aid in various selling processes on Amazon, such as imaging, cataloging, account management, advertising optimization, training, and compliance.

Session

A period during which a user actively engages with the website, automatically ending if there’s no activity for over 30 minutes.

Volume Incentive Rebate (VIR)

A discount given to Amazon sellers who achieve a certain level of sales.

Voucher
